The Kingdom of Heaven

Please join us Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall for a study of the Kingdom of Heaven. In this 12 week study we’ll be examining the Kingdom of Heaven, its nature, extent, timing, ethics, and impact on our lives as citizens of this heavenly Kingdom living in exile here on earth.

The study begins Wednesday night, 7 June 2023, and will run for 12 weeks. The following is the outline we’ll be following.

  1. Introduction to the Kingdom – defining the kingdom, the King, his domain, his subjects, his rule
  2. The Common Kingdom – the Noahic Covenant, earthly governments, justice, ethics, and the extent of the common kingdom
  3. The Kingdom of Heaven – in the teaching of Christ and the Apostles
  4. The Already but Not Yet – the spirituality of the kingdom, its breaking into the present, the church as an embassy
  5. The Antithesis – distinctions between the Kingdom of Heaven and the kingdoms of this world
  6. Learning from the Patriarchs – living as pilgrims and strangers
  7. Learning from Israel – the general equity and moral use of the civil law
  8. Learning from the Remnant – living as exiles, seeking the good of the common kingdom
  9. Living as Citizens of the Kingdom – engaging the culture
  10. Living as Citizens of the Kingdom – vocation
  11. Living as Citizens of the Kingdom – politics
  12. Thy Kingdom Come – our eschatological hope
